Greetings and welcome to the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham Library Service’s blog. Within these pages we hope to intrigue and entertain you with tales of action and adventure, of history and exciting things to come. Like all great stories there will be suspense, mystery perhaps a little romance and, with your help, plenty of plot development as your comments inform our tale.
So if you want to know why we’re “more than a library”, join us in the story of your library service. We’ll keep you updated on our services and events and hopefully surprise you with an occasional twist and plenty of happy endings!
Hi, I wonder if you can help me.
My father, Peter Boot, was born on 6th September 1925 at 1 Sherbrooke Road, North West Fulham.
At the time the family lived at 20 Chelverton Road, Putney.
My query is: was 1 Sherbrooke Road a hospital in those days or is there any other reason for giving birth there given that it is some distance from Chelverton Road.
Grateful for any information.
Thanks
Robin Boot
Robin, I have forwarded your enquiry to our Archivist archives@lbhf.gov.uk
