Elin Jones, Stock Librarian, writes: We are very excited to announce the launch of a new E-book service, completely free to Hammersmith and Fulham library users, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Alongside our existing E-audio collection, we have added over 1,500 E-book titles so you can now download and start reading bestselling authors from the comfort of your own home. You can download E-books to iPads, tablets and smartphones.
Titles include bestsellers from Hilary Mantel, Stieg Larsson and Cecilia Ahern, as well as popular children’s authors David Walliams and Michael Morpurgo. Download The Game of Thrones or classic literature from Shakespeare, Thomas Hardy and Jane Austen – ideal for students.
You can swot up on anything from being a school governor in The Perfect (Ofsted) School Governor to making the best Best Man’s Speech. There’s a whole load of self-help books, including a series on coping with anxiety and depression.
On many of the titles, library borrowers can download the latest bestsellers at the same time; meaning waiting lists are a thing of the past. This is also excellent news for reading groups who will all be able to borrow the same book at the same time. Because books automatically ‘expire’ after the lending period, overdue fines are a thing of the past!
Setting-up is straightforward: you need your library card and pin number, and a smart device connected to the internet. There are detailed instructions on the website to help you get started.
